Short review

When we got the Shark Upright Lift-Away, it was like it was saying, “Pick me up baby. I know that you will love me.” Okay, jokes aside. This baby cub looks so pretty. Not to mention, the 5 year warranty sounds like a best sweet deal for multi floor vacuum! And we got coupons with us so it wouldn’t hurt to give this a shot.

It doesn’t take a minute to be fully assembled. It was very easy to pick the pieces and stick it all together. It was intuitive and we didn’t think that it could be fun getting it together. It sucks up dirt and hair really well that sneaks to hide in our carpet. “Oh no you don’t little filth, we got ya,” the vacuum hisses as it make its way to the carpet and floors. It doesn’t take long to be fully filled of the canister. That just means that the suction is powerful and we wouldn’t mind getting a little wet for this vacuum to be cleaned.

But even with a filled dust container, its suction is still going its way with incredible force and continues to suck in the dirt and dust. Its power doesn’t diminish. It was also surprisingly light which we find a nice bonus to increase mobility. It also comes with good quality attachments such as the Premium Power Brush.

This little guy mercilessly collects all the hairs on your bed or even to your carpet. It is capable to catch 100% of it just using this handy dandy brush. There is also a specialized feature called Straight Suction Nozzle which is successfully activated when you turned this multi floor vacuum to upright. Thanks to this additional feature, picking up crap has become much easier in just a matter of seconds!

What we also like on this lovely vacuum is that it hums quietly. We also find that the car detailing kit works awesome when we tested it on out truck. Dumping everything from the canister or even the bag itself is made easier and wonderfully not messy. It also has 3 fantastic filters that makes this little cub breathes in air and breathes out in fresh and clean air for your home.

Even if this vacuum cleaner seems spotless and works best for your multi floors, this comes with a few holes. It tends to topple over when you drag it around too much because of its lightness and the stiff hose. The light at the base of this vacuum is pretty dim. Comparing this to its competitors, it kinda sucks. We hope for this feature to improve.

Dyson 206900-01 Ball Multi Floor Upright Corded Vacuum, Yellow and Iron

Short review

Okay, so there’s a wee bit of a hype going on to this Dyson Upright Multi Floor. There are a lot of voices and mixed reviews about this. So we are here to settle things up and just sit back there while we all the plates in place.

This vacuum cleaner lives up to our expectations. Why? Cause, holy crap this is one of the powerful and best to use as a multi floor vacuum. It pulls in all of the devious dirt that hides on the carpet and your furniture.

While it is true that this works like a hungry beast that made an escape to a zoo, it was somewhat hard to push this when it was on in variety types of carpets on certain spots. It was pretty hard to move it due to its great suction. We also advised that you shouldn’t use this vacuum on rugs since it will just only going to eat it all up.  But thanks to this powerful feature, it efficiently sucks in all the dust and filth which is best suited for multi floors. It is pretty much a double-edged sword.

It is very easy to use because of the ball. It enables the user a more mobility. Added to that, it was simple and has quick access to the accessories since there is enough room for it to be on board. Cleaning and emptying the canister is a pleasure to do. It was easy to be done and without making any messes.

For its price, it is pretty well made. We also noticed when we the carpet is done with its vacuuming session. It becomes considerably softer. It handles the nooks and crannies very well in ease due to the ball. We must say that maneuvering it is the most charming features. The handle and extension wand is effortlessly can be adjust in just a click away to reach tight and high places.

It is a bummer that this vacuum is has a hose on the little short side. To things up, this baby is a great vacuum cleaner that deserves a spot here on this list. It was only a matter of your choice is the judge.

Things We liked

  • checkGreat mobility
  • checkPowerful suction
  • checkEfficient
  • checkAble to reach high places
  • check Easy to clean

Things We didn’t like

  • Pretty hard to push at times
  • Short hose

Short review

First thing that we checked out here on Shark Navigator NV356E is its overall built. While its build it pretty well constructed, we think that Dyson is still durable and heavy duty than this one that we got here.

We also noticed that its clips are a bit flimsy and small. It is most made out of plastic which the typical built of a vacuum. Its good news is that all the critical parts are made of good material like the extension tube. It is composed of metal and it is very easy to reconfigure in just a snap. The size is accurate and well fit. The ball works great and even the suction sucks well the dirt and dust off.

One thing that we think is pretty cool is that it has a window on top that you can peek to see if there is something that winds down the brush before bad stuff happens. This multi floor vacuum is a wise choice for the elderly and anyone who has mobility issues.

We must say that this isn’t the type that stands out the crowd. It doesn’t look anything fancy but looks decent. It is like it screams out functionality rather than its aesthetics.

It also worth to note that you will need some time to have the learning curve. Its ergonomics takes time to get used to it. Figure out first on how to reconfigure this for the hose to extend. It was a bit fussy to use at first but you will get used to it in time.

The most charming points that we think that best describes the “Lift-Away” is how you can easily pop out it to detach it from the base. It was a wonderful feature since it just makes easier and faster to clean the stairs, blinds and ceilings. It is frighteningly light and feels like almost nothing in hand. You can say that it was like having canister and upright vacuum have a baby then it was “Lift-Away” that comes out.

The roller head is easy to maneuver and tilt since it has a good balance. The handle is comfy to hold and it is just in the right place. Tank removal is surprisingly simple and straightforward. It is one of its charming points.

A major plus for us is that it comes with a HEPA filter. It is located in two different locations which may seem odd and complex at first. Thanks to this though, it makes it more efficient to clean the air while it sucks in any dirty stuff that it is on its way.

There are also design flaws that need to address. The release tab of the canister is at the bottom. This makes it harder to dump all of its content without making mess and having sneezes. Just be sure to get rid all of it in a cool weather not windy!

Things We liked

  • checkLightweight
  • checkEasy to use and maneuver
  • checkGreat suction
  • checkHas long cord
  • checkHas HEPA filter
  • checkPortable

Things We didn’t like

  • Fussy built design
  • Felt flimsy

Dyson Ball Multifloor Canister Vacuum

Short review

The Dyson Canister Multifloor has lived up to its name. It is one of the best quality vacuums for you to be used in multi floors. It is very light and the mobility is top-notch. It is also good looking and the long cord is a sweet feature.

The suction is also works great but it a long run, you will notice that it easily to get filled up. It is also hard to empty and tends to be messy to just dump all the stuff in it. We aren’t fond that it needs to be manually taken out.

Its cheap price is a nice tag. It also works effectively on carpeted and hardwood floors. It easily can hit the nooks and crannies with less effort.

In the long use though, the small wheels on the brush head tends to get clogged by hair and string of fibers. Thus, we are greeted by a immobilized vacuum. Overall, we think that this is a good purchase—if not best— for a multi floor vacuum.

Things We liked

  • check Light
  • checkEasy to use
  • checkCheap
  • checkGood looking
  • checkHas long cord

Things We didn’t like

  • Caught up hairs tend to clogged on wheels

Your 3-Minute Guide to the Best Multi-floor Vacuum in Town

Having a home is just the first part of the story; keeping it livable and dirt-free is another. You can live like the Flintstones in the Stone Age and care not a thing about your cleanliness, sure. But if you want to put a quality life – not to mention longevity – into the picture, having a clean house is never an option. It’s a must.

If you want to wrap your head on that, then it’s not just a matter of handpicking a model out of a list you’ve plucked right out of the net. Unless you’re willing to throw 200 bucks on the table, doing a little bit of research should bid you well.

Below is a lowdown on how to get to your most coveted cleaning machine without getting a nosebleed. The good thing about choices is you will definitely see the results astound you with a good one. And you know what happens after a bad one. Read on.

1. What’s best for bare floors?

If you live in a house where there’s more bare floors than carpeted, then you should best consider a canister vacuum. While there will be uprights and hi-breeds offering you their services, a canister vac may well be the most fitting given its wide range of attachments, which should include a nifty bare-flooring brush.

A canister is perfect for tile and hardwood as it allows you to get into the tightest of spaces and corners. Should, in the process, you still choose the upright then you got to check if the brush roll has an on/off switch. If you can’t turn it off, you might be at a big disadvantage. The unit has the tendency to scatter dirt and debris – not to mention scratch precious surfaces, your beautiful wood including.

2. What if I my concern is my wall-to-wall carpet?

Well, this is where the business-as-usual upright vacuum may have the upper hand. Especially true if you’re looking at a big amount of space. You can use it almost immediately and the ease is just unbeatable compared to other models.

Should you want to expand your options, you can also try the canister. Just make sure you connect it with a motorized power head. That attachment is non-negotiable for carpets.

The key to a successful carpet cleaning is an adjustable brush roll. If you don’t have the height adjustment, your vac may not be as effective. Note that different carpets have different piles. The height adjustment therefore is a must-have.

If you want to make sure your carpet is spic-and-span clean down to the last dirt, getting a model with a dirt sensor would be spot on. That should be one great way to take care of all the grime without having to go back and forth.

3. How about the stairs?

Stairs are tricky as you know by now. Those flight can sure consume your energy – especially if you have to drag a big unit over just to clean it all up. In this regard, the long hose of a canister should get you over the hump. Make sure you have all the right attachments to reach into the crevices and in and around those railings.

And yet, if we’re talking about cleaning the whole house, relying on the canister may not be ideal. If you do, you’ll be dragging a heavy canister up and down. Certainly, you wouldn’t want that.

For best results, a handheld may give you a lift. Or for that matter an extra-light upright. The good news is hi-breeds do exist like the Shark Navigator that gives you greater flexibility. If push comes to shove, you may also want to buy a less pricey model just for your stairs. Problem solved.

4. What if you want to clean places other than the floor?

This is where your attachments come into play. A gorgeous vacuum can really give you a hand with a plethora of addendums. That should include:

  • upholstery brush

  • crevice tool (standard)

  • dusting brush

  • pet hair attachments

There are even tools that allows you to dust those high-placed ceiling fans or for that matter the top of your shelves.

Also, getting a product offering with a long cord would be a blessing if you want to clean a wider area. To take care of items that are delicate, making sure you have a variable suction is a great bonus. That way you can cater to drapery sheers and those small rugs without tearing them apart.

5. Is there a way I can minimize allergic reactions?

All that air movement can truly be risky. But that’s just how a vacuum works. A major culprit is poor filtration. Also, you need to watch out for those crevices in your vac as these holes may be the all those dust and debris can get back into the environment.

The end result: You get to be sneezy – if not sick. The solution therefore is filtration. Make sure you have a vac that has proper filtration – HEPA would be best. To note, HEPA filters can trap up to 99.9 percent of microdust, dirt and what-have-you. Dust mites including.

6. What to use when I want my clean-up to be as fast as possible?

If your concern is just to get a quick one, then getting a handheld would be nice. That will allow you to move about without having to drag a heavy machine all over the place. This is especially true when you have to clean your car or the piano.

Even better, you have cordless product offerings that can give you as much suction power as a corded unit. That may well be true given all the advancement in technology. But the problem is it may just last about an hour maximum – or even minutes.

After which, you will have to recharge it. If you find it all too burdensome, looking at hi-breed models which can act an upright and a handheld may prove to be wise for you.

7. Is there a way to clean my house minus the effort?

Yes, definitely. You can always put your faith on a robot, a robotic vac to be exact. With the latest advancement in tech which includes a driverless car amongst many, the auto-cleaning bot isn’t a long shot.

Word of caution: These machines come at a high price. And don’t expect them to be climbing stairs without your aid. What’s worse, these machine are not as powerful as your standard vac so their impact is minimal.

Standup vs Canister: Which is Best?

It may be design; it may be weight and all the things you need to drag with you with cleaning; but there is always a healthy debate which is better: a stand-up vac or one that is of canister type.

Well, this is a judgement call on your part. Like cars, you alone has the final say on which is best for you. That is why getting your choices right matters. A vacuum isn’t a candy bar that you consumer in one day and throw out.

To get you started right, here’s a lowdown on what makes each product offering tick. And what makes it a no-no. So you don’t have to live with a cleaning equipment you never wanted in the first place.

Upright Pros:

  • Budget-constraints

If your cash is tight, you may have to go for upright. They’re usually cheaper.

  • Best for carpets:

Traditionally, they’re best for thick rugs and carpets since by nature they used brushes that are motorized. Reason why upright is the more popular model before.

  • Easy Operation

You can transition from bare floors to carpeted ones by a simple foot action. No sweat.

  • No Backbreaking Work

With an upright, you need not bend just to get going. Unless of course you’re using a hose attachment.

  • Quick and Easy to Use

As everything is all set, you can work in a flash. No attachments to connect. It’s quick and easy. It also calls for easy storage. Nothing to dismount or take away.

Upright Cons:

  • Noisier than Most

If you have a baby or if you’re living right next to a nosy neighbor, the upright model may not be the best as it’s bound to be noisy. This is because it usually does not have a good insulation. Yes, to quality that, uprights are usually noisier than canister-types.

  • Heavy to Push Around

Yes, you can use them in a jiffy. No sweat. That’s because everything is there intact. The problem is all that machinery can take a toll on weight. Uprights are usually heavier than canister type models.

  • Not Suited for Hard to Reach Places

The upright design is best for big spaces where your work is mainly to get the room cleaned. When it comes to the corners and all the hard-to-reach areas, you may have an issue. Uprights, even with their hose attachments, are not the best design to clean these areas.

Canister Pros:

  • Power

If you want a strong suction, the canister is your man to beat. Without a significant limit on the size of its engines, these machines carry bigger ones compared to uprights. Thus, they have better suction and faster flowrate.

That can only mean a faster more efficient cleaning for you.

  • Lighter

As many would realize, canister types are lighter. This means you won’t have a weight issue pushing the around.

  • Peace and Quiet

Even with their big machines, canister variety are lighter. That should give you a lot more leeway cleaning a big room.

  • Well-equipped

You’d be surprised at all the tools available to you when using a canister model. You not only have a crevice nozzle which is good for getting dirt from the most hard-to-reach places, you have an army of attachments you can use (e.g., upholstery brush, mechanized brush).

Canister Cons:

  • Takes Time to Operate

All that attachments can take a lot of assembly time. An upright will get you running in no time. Not with a canister vac. All those accessories simply takes time to assemble.

  • Storage Issues

That long hose and separate wand can sure make you sweat when finding for a place to store the unit. Until, of course, when you disassemble them.

  • Dragging Issues

This is unique to canister models. Unlike an upright which you push forward the canister has to be dragged behind you. That can be troublesome for many. So if you don’t like to have to drag weight around everywhere you clean, canister isn’t for you.

  • Bend Over Issues

This may be the biggest case against canister-type. With upright, it’s simple. You clean, you move forward. You won’t have that benefit in canister as you’ll have to bend over every so often. That can truly be lost of trouble if your back is having pain issues. Or if you’re aged already and a backbreaking work is simply out of the question.
